Growing up in the countryside of Connecticut, playing in the woods with rocks, moss, trees and leaves, I felt most at home. Moving to California in 1975, I was immediately struck by the luminous colors of the California landscape, and had a strong desire to paint the environment in another direction, filled with brilliant color, expressive strokes and textures, yet still with a resonance of the environment that I grew up in.
